Writing a book is just the beginning. Now that your magnum opus is complete, you’ll need a professional eye to make it shine.
I offer an array of services all meant to make your book the best it can possibly be. All feedback is given with kindness and care in mind. You poured your heart into your work, and I’ll treat it as the precious thing I know it is.
Each service includes two passes (readthroughs) of your manuscript to ensure accurate and thorough feedback as well as a complimentary one-hour meeting/call to discuss any questions after the edit is complete.
Typical turnaround is two weeks but can be altered depending on the wordcount and service(s) being provided.
Developmental Edit
$0.02/word
Clarifying or reorganizing a manuscript for content and structure. May include some rewriting and reorganization of the text. Includes a macro and micro analysis of the text ranging from plot structure, story arc, character development, worldbuilding, word usage, and adherence to genre. Includes a final letter.
Copy Edit
$0.017/word
Editing for grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation, and other mechanics of style; checking for consistency of mechanics and for internal consistency of facts; and making sure house style and/or CMOS guidelines are adhered to. Includes a complimentary style sheet.
Proofread
$0.012/word
Detection and correction of any obvious errors in the manuscript (e.g., typos), punctuation errors, easily fixed grammatical errors, and small formatting issues like removal of double spaces, converting straight quotes to curly quotes, and conversion of three periods ... to ellipsis …
Sensitivity Read
$0.012/word
A substantive reading of your manuscript with emphasis on providing feedback in a particular area of expertise/identity, for example reading for accurate representation of a biracial character. Includes in-manuscript comments and a final letter.
Manusctipt Evaluation
$0.015/word
Generalized analysis of plot, story arc, character development, and worldbuilding. Includes in-manuscript comments, line editing suggestions only when the meaning is unclear, and a final letter.
Smaller Projects
$45/hour
If your work is much smaller than a manuscript (like an outline or picture book for example), you’re eligible for my per hour rate instead of per word.
Note: there’s a default $45 minimum for these projects.
Packages
Package deals combine two or more services. Some will require four to six passes (two for each service) while some will require just two. Details will be hammered out during the consultation.
Most packages come with a 25% discount on the total of both services as well as a complimentary one-hour meeting/call to discuss any questions after the edit is complete.
Manuscript Evaluation & Sensitivity Read

A dual manuscript evaluation in addition to sensitivity concerns. Includes in-manuscript comments and a final letter that incorporates feedback from both reads.
Sensitivity Read & Proofread

A dual sensitivity read and proofread. The first pass of the manuscript will be focused on the sensitivity read, then once the feedback has been incorporated, the second pass will begin as a proofread. Includes a letter and in-manuscript comments regarding the read. Does not include a style sheet.
Sensitivity Read & Copy Edit
